FAITH- A PEARL
The
Bible says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved ---- You and your
family.” (Acts 16:31)
There was a slave girl who was afflicted by an evil
spirit that enabled her to predict the future and she earned a lot of money for
her owner by telling the fortune.
As Paul and Silas were going to a place of prayer, she
followed them shouting, “These men are the servants of the Most High God . They
announce to you how you can be saved.” She did this for many days. One day Paul
became so disturbed that he turned round and said to the spirit, “In the name
of Jesus Christ I order you to come out of her”—the spirit went out the very
moment. Alleluia!
The owner of the slave came to release that their
chance to earn was lost.
They seized Paul and Silas, dragged them to the authorities
and said false accusations against them. They were thrown to the jail after
being beaten. The jailer put them into the inner cell and
fastened their feet between heavy blocks of wood. About midnight, both Paul and
Silas started worshiping God by singing Hymns and praise.
Other prisoners were listening to them.
Most High God bestowed His power upon them and send a
violent earthquake, which shook the foundation of the prison. At once all the
doors were open and chains fell off from all prisoners. The jailer got
afraid, seeing the door opened; he thought all the prisoners had escaped.
He pulled out his sword and was about to kill himself.
Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself. We are all here!”
The jailer felt bad for his cruel behavior
towards them and asked Paul and Silas with a repentant heart, “What must I
do to be saved?”
They answered, “Believe in Lord Jesus Christ, you will
be saved—You and your family.” (Acts. 16:31)
He heard the Word of God and believed. He and his
family were filled with joy because they now believed in God.
Many such events can be read in the Holy Bible.
Faith forms in our heart by listening and reading the
Bible and such devotional books and by witnessing the wonder works of True
God’s Hand.
Holy Bible says that, “For it is by our faith that we
are put right with God, it is by our confession that we are saved.” (Rom. 10:10)
Faith is the foundation of our life and true faith
itself leads from darkness. Good News clearly proved that “True Faith helps us
to receive God’s blessing.”
St. Paul again says, “Now that you have been put right
with God through faith, so we have peace with God through Christ. He has
brought us by faith into this experience of God’s grace.” (Rom. 5: 1)
An active faith produces good fruits, gifts and
karisms. By sharing your faith, you and the listeners are being blessed by God.
When the prisoners, the jailer and his
family took an interest to hear the voice of Paul and Silas, they came to
understand the truth. They were gifted with peace, joy and forgiveness of their
wrongdoings. Above all the gift of salvation was granted to them.
True Faith gives us the courage to take good decision
in our life. Since there are chances to diminish or even abandon the faith, it
is important to guard your faith.
St. Peter in his letter reminds us:
For
this very reason, do your best to
Add
goodness to your faith,
To
your goodness, add knowledge,
To
your knowledge, add self-control,
To
your self-control, add endurance,
To
your endurance, add godliness,
To
your godliness, add brotherly affection,
To
brotherly affection, add love
May God of Provider, award you and your family a bright
future and grace to practice peaceful days ahead.
