AN ANGELIC VOICE
The Holy Bible says, “Jesus grew and became strong; He was
full of wisdom, and God’s blessings
were upon Him. (Luke 2:40)
In
response to few mothers’ requests, we embark on a new series for the children.
We are extremely grateful to all those who suggested and encouraged us to pen
this section.
With
the Lord’s Blessings, we are glad to unveil the CHRISTEEN SECTION today.
Greetings
to All!
Once, a
king died leaving behind his three sons as heirs to his Kingdom. The eldest of the
three sons would have succeeded after his father’s death, but the commander of
the king’s army cheated them, capturing the kingdom and driving them away.
They
wandered and soon began to live in a village, all the while planning on how to
recapture the Kingdom and their lost glory. As they sat discussing one day,
Deva the eldest of the brothers said, “Brothers, what do you believe is the
finest thing in the world?”
“Power”,
answered Shanka, “had the commander not had ‘power’ he could not have driven us
out.”
Deva
argued, “I don’t think it was power. It is Money,
if he had not been greedy for our wealth, why would he have done this to
us? Only when he possessed our wealth
did he obtain power. That answers my question. Money is the finest thing one
can posses in this world.”
Ananda,
the younger one, silently and thoughtfully sat beside amidst their loud heated
argument. They considered his silence as
a stupidity and took no notice of him.
The next
morning brought along a new beginning for the three brothers. Ananda bid good bye to his brothers, who set
out to achieve what their hearts desired. While Deva set off to the east to
seek money, Shanka journeyed to the west to build and organize a powerful army.
As they were leaving they all promised each other to meet at the same place
after seven years.
Days
turned to years and soon it was reunion time.
One day,
Ananda, when standing at the door of his house, joyfully gazing at the ripe
corn, he saw a huge procession
approaching his humble village. Soon, the word spread that someone was arriving
on a huge elephant decorated with the finest gold and jewels. On further
approach, he was glad that it was the return of his brothers who had gone in
their respective searches. Delighted he informed his wife and children and set
out to meet them.
Love
filled brotherly embraces and long stories filled the air as the two elder
brothers met and hugged each other. Now it was time to show off what they had
achieved.
Deva
roared out in arrogance to Shanka, “I am the richest man in the world.” Shanka,
not impressed with his Brother’s arrogance, was eager to prove his mettle. “The
power in me and my army is capable of killing all of you and take your wealth.”
By this
time, the villagers had surrounded and was an audience to the heated arguments.
It was
then that Deva and Shanka noticed the absence of Ananda. “He may not have achieved anything in this
world, and being ashamed to face us, would have left this place. Look at us,
our hard work has rewarded us with power and wealth? What else is greater than
this to achieve?”
Meanwhile,
Ananda, who was a part of the audience gathered there, observed his brother’s
with the same silence as before. “Their arrogance and attitude had not changed
even in this long years,” he thought.
Slowly he
came ahead and stood before them. The sight of a farmer hushed their arguments.
Looking closely at the dress and behavior, they noticed it was Ananda. They could not contain their laughter and
contempt on seeing his condition, but went on to inquire what he had been up to
all those years?
Ananda
lifted his cheerful and bliss filled face as he looked at them and explained.
Dear
little ones, we were viewing the different attitudes of three brothers who came
to recapture the kingdom and power of their own father. The eldest brother thought that he could win
the whole world with wealth, while the second brother thought the same with
power. But the youngest brother realized that hard work is essential to make
this worldly life a peaceful one.
When they
met after many years, the youngest brother described about his little peaceful
family and the simple village life he led which was full of hard work. The overflowing contentment and the joy
residing within his heart were evident on his cheerful countenance.
The other
two brothers looked at each other with sheer amazement and unable to suppress
the truth the elder brother spoke, “You have gained something which is more
powerful than my wealth, which at times is a cause for fear and discontentment.”
Even
before he could finish expressing his feelings the second brother continued, “You
have gained the best thing possible on this earth. I have power but the fear that I may be
killed by my own army anxiously haunts me. Yet the supreme bliss
that dwells in your simple life is indeed a wonderful blessing!”
Dear
little friends, what does our Heavenly Father who has created and sent us to
this earth desire us to do? He exhorts
us to believe in His Son and to follow His life which is full of peace, joy,
love and righteousness.
Dear
little ones do not maintain any anger in your heart or plot a revenge against
your classmates or friends who hurt you.
God the
Father wishes that you to forgive them and to be obedient to your parents, teachers
and to study well.
Let us
give up our competing attitude, quarrelsome nature and excessive desire for certain
things in the name of Infant Jesus and become messengers of peace wherever we
go.
A SMALL PRAYER
O little King Jesus, I love You.
Be my Love forever. Take me to Your Mother’s school where you learnt all
virtues. Make me an instrument of obedience and a loving child. Bless my
parents and all my teachers. Amen!

ACT OF
THE DAY
Through the intercession of Mother Mary, let
us offer a Holy Rosary so that just as the beads in the Rosary are united let
the nations be united and remain in peace.
